In January, The Pokemon Company confirmed that they were looking into allegations of infringement, and as officially announced by Nintendo on September 19, 2024, they’re officially opening up a lawsuit to protect their IP.

Officially filed by the Tokyo District Court, the lawsuit is seeking compensation for Palworld allegedly caused by Pocketpair infringing on game’s core game design.

This lawsuit seeks an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages on the ground that Palworld, a game developed by the Defendant, infringed multiple patent rights.

Currently, there are no specific details regarding what exactly The Pokemon Company is going after Pocketpair for, nor is there any public record of the lawsuit as of writing. Palworld has been the target of scrutiny since it launched, with many players noticing the similarities between Palworld‘s character designs, as well as the overall aesthetic of the game’s world. Additionally, the catching mechanic in the game is also eerily similar to that of Pokemon.

As of writing, Pocketpair made a minor statement regarding the lawsuit, calling it “truly unfortunate”. Until more context is given for what Nintendo is going after Pocketpair for, and the evidence they provide, fans will need to form their own opinions on the situation.

The streamer goes on to say how he could replicate Kai’s success if he didn’t go to any outside industry events, “putting in crazy work” to make his streams “unique”. Obviously, fans didn’t love the comments, with many agreeing that the behavior reeked of bitterness. Kai Cenat echoed a similar sentiment, stating that he used to respect Ninja before hearing what he said about him.

The beef wasn’t exactly squashed, though, because in late August 2024, Ninja had more to say about Kai Cenat, with a compilation video being released revealing that Ninja has made a series of comments about Kai Cenat purposefully losing a Minecraft marathon for the entertainment value.

Asmongold weighed in on Ninja’s comments, saying that he feels as though Ninja can’t handle the competition.

Ninja seems to be a bad loser, and I think because of that, people keep trying to bait him for reactions when somebody does something that Ninja didn’t do… The problem is, he takes it too seriously.

In his response video, Asmongold made it clear whose side he’s on, maintaining that he supports Kai Cenat and his metoric rise to fame over the last year. Ninja hasn’t responded to any of Asmongold’s comments regarding him being a sore loser as of writing.

Pokimane has undoubtedly maintained her status as one of the most popular female streamers on Twitch ever since her rise to fame in 2016, averaging upwards of 10k viewers every time she goes live. The offer was allegedly so grand, the streamer got her manager involved to try and hash something out with Twitch.

Preferring to stay on Twitch, Pokimane got her manager involved to try and figure out a number to stay on the platform without feeling as though she was missing out on what YouTube presented her with.

Like, I can’t say no to life-changing money like that, especially when the other offer isn’t really comparable.

Apparently, Pokimane’s manager was able to get her on the phone with a Twitch executive, and after a considerable amount of back-and-forth, the Twitch employee asked, “What’s your number?” and ultimately matched YouTube’s offer.

Once she got in contact with YouTube to break the news, the video hosting site increased the offer, but Pokimane chose loyalty, telling them she gave Twitch her word.

Interestingly, she’s now distanced herself from streaming exclusively on Twitch. As of January 2024, Pokimane revealed that she’s emotionally distanced herself from the site, saying the platform is messy and disorganized.

Fans of the influencer have been uncovering some not-so-benevolent traits regarding MrBeast’s business practices, with many ex-employees speaking out against him, claiming that the creator has fostered a toxic working environment.

The recent allegations against MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) have come to a head following a lawsuit against himself and Amazon over the conditions of his upcoming “Beast Games” show, with many comparing it to the catastrophic Fyre Festival.

The complaint was initially filed on September 16, 2024 in the LA Superior Court, with contestants who took part in the Beast Games, citing inhuman working conditions and chronic mistreatment, including allegations of sexual misconduct occurring on set, as well as the production’s failure to pay staff minimum wage. The five contestants filing against MrBeast are redacted – but raises some truly disturbing allegations about the show’s conditions.

Several contestants [were] up hospitalized, while others reported suffering physical and mental complications while being subjected to chronic mistreatment, degradation and, for the female contestants, hostile working conditions.

In addition to the identities of those filing against MrBeast being kept confidential, many of the details regarding the abuse contestants endured is also private, especially details regarding the onset sexual assault allegations.

This news couldn’t have come at a worse time, since MrBeast just announced a new collaboration with Logan Paul and KSI on their new “Lunchly” product launch, a premade meal aimed at providing a healthier alternative to Lunchables.

Kai Cenat, another popular streamer, is well-known for marathoning FromSoftware titles, with his Elden Ring content breaking streaming records, averaging over 96,000 viewers during the week that he powered through the game.

The copycat claims come from Tyler1’s set up for his own marathon of the game, featuring a themed backdrop, much like what Cenat used during his streams, as well as Tyler wearing a warrior costume when initially jumping into frame to introduce the stream. While some fans were excited and on board, citing previous “cosplay” streams that Tyler had hosted on his Twitch, others weren’t nearly as excited.

Other fans say that Kai Cenat deserves more credit for popularizing the concept of a streaming marathon, and that Kai really went out of his way to make themed streams feel like a spectacle, and that seeing Tyler do it now feels too much like copying.

While fans are decided – one thing is for certain – watching Tyler1 endure the endless trials that Elden Ring throws at its players, especially the boss fights, will be a spectacular show all on its own.

Nick Kolcheff, a.k.a NICKMERCS, recently spoke out against Dr Disrespect and those remaining loyal to him following the infamous content creator returning to streaming after admitting to sending explicit messages to a minor in a now-deleted tweet.

Being controversial in his own way, Nick doesn’t mind speaking publicly about his disdain for Dr Disrespect’s return to the internet, throwing around a number of heated comments about the streamer’s Twitch ban. After being labeled a fake friend by devoted Dr Disrespect fans, Nick responded, stating:

Now I’m a sh** friend for not having his back??? Buncha brain-rot morons on this app.

While Nick and Dr Disrespect previously had history as collaborators, it would seem as though Nick draws the line at messaging minors – something that some of his fans, shockingly, seem to be arguing with him about in his comment section. In addition to NICKMERCS turning his back on Dr Disrespect, other former collaborators have spoken out against Doc, such as DrLupo, who stated in a stream:

You do not defend that, there’s no defending it.

While Dr Disprect says that he still has more to disclose regarding his Twitch ban, there’s no changing his public admission of guilt, even if he did eventually delete the original post.

After a series of lawsuits and messy legal feuds, it’s hardly surprising to see that this complicated legal battle would only get messier between the pair, and it seems this time around, much of the trouble comes from xQc’s car, a McLaren 720s Spider which was valued at being worth $300,000, that had, according to the streamer, been frozen as an asset by the judge that Adept allegedly sold illegally without notifying xQc.

The McLaren situation – of course – has become a bit of a running meme in his community following the court battles, and during a Q&A held on September 8, 2024, xQc updated his community on the situation, which is where the dismissal was officially announced. During the Q&A, though he tried to stay rather vague, the streamer said the following:

“Let’s just say, the other party didn’t play fair from the beginning. The sneaky tactics they were doing. It was supposedly frozen, the car was sold under the radar. Shouldn’t be happening.”

xQc did state that he would like to pursue getting his $500,000 dollars back, but that he doesn’t want to risk everything, and is currently “biding his time”. xQc has won two previous lawsuits made against his ex, and though there are no updates as of time of writing, it seems as though he may eventually pursue further legal action down the line.

Twitch Streamer itmeJP was among one of the first content creator’s to take notice of the tribute while live streaming the end of the campaign, commenting: “Holy. They put a shoutout to TB in there?!… Holy. That’s sick.”

Back in June 2024, allegations were brought forth by multiple Twitch staff regarding the reason for Dr Disrespect being permanently banned from the platform, spearheaded by Cody Conners, who alleged that the streamer had been sending explicit messages to a minor in 2017. Dr Disrespect confirmed the allegations in a now-deleted tweet, and took a hiatus from the internet before recently returning to try and defend himself in a stream called “THE TRUTH”.

Conners recently responded to the claims made by Dr Disrespect in his comeback stream through a series of hilarious tweets, including one where Conners shared a screenshot of a ChatGPT message that read: “What kind of lawyer do I need when I am definitely not getting sued?”

He later tweeted out a similar jab that stated: “Siri, when do I need to leave for the courthouse if I don’t have to go?”

While there’s no confirmation, the tweets do indicate that Conners isn’t worried about Dr Disrespect taking any form of legal action against him following the declarations made in his latest livestream.

As of writing, there’s been no news on whether Dr Disrespect will take any of the Twitch employees (former or otherwise) to court, but the streamer did state that he still has “more to disclose”, so, only time will tell.

Following an absolute whirlwind after a Twitch employee spoke out about how the streamer was permanently banned from the platform after sending explicit messages to a minor in 2017 – something Dr Disrespect admitted to by stating he had been “having mutual conversations with a minor that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate.” Now, he’s officially trying to make a comeback, backpedaling on his previous statements, and trying to reapply for YouTube Partnership.

Dr Disrespect Is Declaring War On Twitch For All the Wrong Reasons

In his big “comeback” stream – if anyone wants to actually call it that – the streamer stated that he wanted to set the record straight about the allegations made against him. After a series of cryptic messages, Dr Disrespect went live on September 6, 2024 to play Call of Duty Black Ops 6 in a stream he titled “THE TRUTH”.

In the stream, Dr Disrespect mentioned that, “to a certain degree,” he wasn’t nervous about coming back to the internet. Continuing, he later said:

“People ask, ‘Now that you’re not monetized, you’re never gonna be streaming on YouTube again, are you?’ There’s an opportunity to re-apply. So in the meantime, we’ll do what we need to do. I enjoy my time here on YouTube. We’ve built a nice, strong community for years.

He then went on to call out the former Twitch employee that spoke out against the streamer earlier in the year, Cody Conners, alleging that Conners did not have any first-hand knowledge with the situation, nor was he ever involved.

… Cody Conners, ex-Twitch employee, wasn’t even involved in leaking Twitch’s reported reason. Years later. Cody, why do this? What was the point? This was settled professionally. And you, knowing how black and white the internet is, you decided, you f**king rat, you reported the f**king reason Twitch banned me.

In the rant, Dr Disrespect claims that he never had any intention of meeting the minor he had been explicitly sending messages to, nor were they exchanging photos – but, it doesn’t change the fact that the streamer did admit to sending inappropriate messages with a minor. He then goes on to claim that the entire situation was likely orchestrated by Twitch staff, alleging that the company holds some kind of vendetta against him, stating that he was the “face of the platform” but never received any form of “front-page love”.

 I suspect you all planned and coordinated this attack.

Dr Disrespect

The situation is messy, and still ongoing – as the controversial figure stated in the stream that he still has more information to disclose. At the end of the day, though, even if Dr Disrespect tries to change the narrative by pointing fingers and using rage bait to try and erase the fact that he admitted to having inappropriate conversations in his since-deleted admission of guilt, it doesn’t change what he did. Plus, trying to spin some sort of conspiracy theory that Twitch staff were actively working against him is a ludicrous statement to make – especially without any sort of legitimate receipts to back up his claims.

The highly-acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios was a smash-hit when it launched, and the studio has kept fans hooked by continuously adding new content and ironing out bugs through giant patches.

For those wanting to dive into Patch 7, the updates is 11.6 GB on PC, and requires 160GB of free space to install.

These patches are released periodically and enhance the gameplay experience for players, making QOL updates and even expanding on the relationships that players can build throughout the game. The most recent patch just launched, and its maybe the most monumental that the game has had yet.

Patch 7 Is Filled With Goodies For Evil Doers & Heroes Who Love a Challenge

Looking at Larian’s hefty patch notes, their intentions are clear right from first paragraph:

Larian makes it clear that every adventurer taking on the Swords Coast – whether they’re a custom Tav, a Dark Urge, or an Origin Character – has the opportunity to experience a whopping thirteen brand-new cinematics to tap into player’s more sinister compulsions. The patch notes tease this development by showing off some short clips of new cinematics featuring Wyll and Lae’zel – but we won’t give away what the implications of those scenes are.

Additionally, for Dark Urge players (redeemed or otherwise) Patch 7 now decides to make one of the playthrough’s biggest gut punches even more brutal by making Alfira temporarily playable as a party member to really twist the knife for those that haven’t experienced the moment hands-on.

Honour Mode Introduced Brand-New Legendary Actions For Seasoned Adventurers

Honour Mode players are in for some major changes with some combat adjustments and new Legendary Actions to make these playthroughs more challenging. Directly from the patch notes, here’s everything that’s been updated:

• If Dror Ragzlin finds himself inside the spider pit, he’ll try to befriend the spiders residing there with a new spell, “Arachnid Compulsion” so they can band together to fight you.
• The Bulette has a new condition, “Diamond Scales” and a new Legendary Action, “Shredding Scales”.
• Malus Thorm has a new Legendary Action called “Grasping Appendage”.
• There’s a new aura and spell for Spectator encounters called “Panicked Sentinel” and “Ocular Nightmare”.
• Ch’r’ai Tska’an, the leader of the githyanki ambush in Act II, has a new Legendary Action, “Soul Sacrifice”.
• Ch’r’ai Har’rak, the githyanki leader at the Knights of the Shield Hideout, has a new Legendary Action, “Tu’narath’s Embrace”.
• Ptaris has a new Legendary Action, “Ptarian Dogma”.

Wyll Fans Rejoice – the Blade of Frontiers Received Some Much Needed Updates

Despite being one of the main characters in the game, many Baldur’s Gate 3 players have felt as though Wyll gets left out when it comes to receiving new/updated content, but thankfully, Patch 7 introduces many much needed updates to Wyll’s romance and presence in the game.

Among these updates, here’s a few highlights that stood out to us:

• The background goal Blueblood Solidarity not completing after you talk to Wyll about him being Duke Ravengard’s son has been fixed.
• Wyll will no longer talk about hunting down Mizora when she’s close by.
• If Avatar Karlach and Wyll are partners and go to the Hells, he’ll act accordingly during the epilogue.
• Karlach’s scene in Avernus not playing if you decided to go with her when playing as Wyll has been fixed.
• Instances where Wyll still has an exclamation mark above his head after players exhaust his dialogue has been fixed.
• Wyll’s greetings for players with low approval have been fixed so that they properly trigger.
• A dialogue option asking for a kiss in more paths of Wyll’s epilogue dialogue has been added.
• Wyll won’t automatically assume he’s talking to Lae’zel if the player is a holograph in the epilogue.

Boasting over 100,000 downloads on Steam, Fields of Mistria, at a glance, has an aesthetic that blends the pixel sprites found in Stardew Valley with an anime-inspired artstyle that immediately reminded us of the Rune Factory franchise, but the game is already so much more than that, and exists completely on its own. Its opening feels very standard for the genre, but once players embark on their farming journey, they’ll find that the quaint little town of Mistria is overflowing with secrets.

Fields of Mistria Is Filled With Passion, and a Love For the Genre

Before diving into Fields of Mistria‘s lore and story, it’s important to note how the game succeeds in creating a player experience that perfectly balances what fans of farming sims love about the genre with the mechanics in a way that’s approachable and the definition of user-friendly while still incorporating advanced mechanics to customize the player’s farm once they get the hang of how everything on the farm works.

Every tool has a clearly defined purpose, and the player’s backpack is easy to navigate. From the first in-game day, players can begin setting up their plots exactly the way they want them to be, and start planning how they eventually want their perfect farmstead to look.

Additionally, the quest system offers players a chance to not only boost Mistria’s ‘Renown’ score, but goes beyond the typical “fetch quest” to occasionally provide players with a special cutscene or “get-to-know-you” dialogue with NPCs, which makes the world feel vibrant and alive.

Additionally, the villages residing in Mistria are full of personality. The town feels very lived in, and the addition of “Friday Nights at the Inn”, give players a chance to see more of the NPCs when they’re enjoying each others company. Other events, like the Saturday markets, offer rotating dialogue showing how the NPCs feel about certain stalls, or other small tidbits about the types of people they are outside of their usual day-to-day activities.

Te extra effort put in to balance the social aspects of Fields of Mistria‘s gameplay just as much as the farming is commendable, and something that the genre has been in desperate need of – which is especially admirable when factoring in how fun and rewarding the dungeon crawls the player can later embark on are.

Fields of Mistria’s World Is Filled With Mysteries

From the game’s prologue, it’s clear that Fields of Mistria is filled with intricate lore, overflowing with magic and mysteries. Early on, the player gets introduced to Caldarus – a dragon guardian that enter a pact with the player to aid them on improving the town. Additionally, there are mentions throughout the game of an earthquake that set Mistria back and drove many of the townsfolk away.

As the player interacts with the NPCs, they can begin to piece together just how devastating this event was, as well as hear whispers about the Baron and Baroness that are currently away in the capital, allowing their two children to take charge of fixing the town in their absence. Once the player works with Eiland to repair the mines, they realize that the strange events going on in town delve much deeper than an earthquake, and begin taking on monsters in their adventures.

Mistria, an idyllic village tucked between forest and sea, has offered the player an overgrown but full-of-potential homestead in exchange for their assistance. The latest patch at time of writing launched late on August 29, 2024 and tuned much of the hero roster, added “wall-jumping” and a brand-new profile page for players to keep up with their gameplay stats.

A brief overview of all the changes, uploaded by a fan-run account called “Deadlock Intel” to Twitter, gives players a brief run-down of each of the hero changes without needing to dig too deeply into Valve’s full patch note release. Among hero changes, popular characters like Abrams, Haze, and Bebop received across-the-board buffs.

Most of the games items were reworked as well, including the addition of a new item in the “Weapon” category called Headhunter that boosts bullet velocity by 50%, weapon damage by 15%, and gives 150 bullet shield health. Additionally, Headhunter rewards players for landing headshots by dealing bonus damage (140 headshot bonus damage), healing (8% per headshot), and grants a brief move speed buff (+2 m/s)

Aside from weapon and hero buffs, the latest update adds new map objects and features for players to use and strategize around, including wall jumping – a feature that has a majority of the playerbase extremely excited. Wall jumping doesn’t consume any stamina, and allows players to tactically bounce around the map.

Valve also added ropes around the map that players can climb to more effectively track opponents, a Streamer mode, and additional “juke rooms”.

While there’s still no official confirmation when Deadlock fans can expect an official release date, the ongoing play test is going strong, and has no official end in sight.

The Chao Garden, known for its charming creatures and minigame elements, where you raise Chao creatures, has been a favorite. This feature was so loved because you essentially worked a pet-raising sim where you hatched and even influenced the behavior of the Chao. This mini-game never became prominent in the series, so it was a missed opportunity. Even today, there’s no word on capitalizing on such a beloved mini-game that may be easy to make into a full game.

As shown above, the characters are sitting in a restaurant themed after the garden in the movie trailer. It’s unclear what role the Chao Garden will play in the film apart from being a background setting. Still, this could be a great way to introduce the creatures that have become synonymous with Sonic The Hedgehog games. Then again, the Chao Garden could serve as a fun Easter egg or even the basis for a new spin-off series starring Chao creatures.

The Easter Egg part makes sense since they’re in a restaurant with the Chao theme. However, it would be a huge missed opportunity if they didn’t introduce the Chao as creatures in the world or one of the realms. It’s a smart merchandising opportunity and a way they can finally give fans the Chao farm sim game many have asked for.

Obviously, the main attraction of the movie is Shadow, and his teleportation and rocket boots take center stage. So we’d imagine the Chao wouldn’t be the biggest part of the movie, but the easter egg seems to be preparing viewers for something that may come soon. We’ll see it either in the movie or a different movie.

While the game company has plans to develop a “flat-fee offline” version of the game that players can transfer their data to and continue playing, diehard Animal Crossing fans are devastated by the announcement, feeling as though Nintendo simply doesn’t care about the franchise.

Animal Crossing Is a Beloved Franchise With a Long History

Animal Crossing is a social sim that originally launched in Japan in 2001, and rapidly became a hit with audiences around the world. The games are typically laid-back, and put an emphasis on players slowly building up friendships with the animal villagers that surround them while decorating and renovating the world around them.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp launched in November 2017 as a free-to-play game on mobile devices that tasked players with with renovating and decorating a campsite to attract visitors by providing eccentric amenities and other types of decor. As is typical with mobile games, Pocket Camp has a premium currency called Leaf Tickets that would allow players access to even better collections, or allowing them to bypass time-consuming efforts to gather materials.

While it’s sad to see Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp become an offline experience, Nintendo has made some efforts to keep the franchise going, including a real-world aquarium experience touring the US later in 2024.

The news has understandably left the fandom feeling bitter, but all we can do is hope that Nintendo has a silver lining planned for Animal Crossing fans in the future.

Having officially dropped on August 20, 2024, Black Myth: Wukong rapidly hit a peak of over 2.2 million concurrent players on Steam, making it the most played single-player title on the platform. The blockbuster release has been praised worldwide for its stunning visuals and challenging gameplay, making it an instant success.

While reviews are still coming out for the game, Wukong already has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” score on Steam with over 200,000 reviews at time of writing. Currently, the game is available on PC through Steam and PlayStation 5.

While details are still sparse regarding how these evil endings will be triggered by players, the clip Larian chose to tease chose what looks like a crowd of Baldurian citizens being controlled by the same aberrant mind powers that Mind Flayers & the tadpoles possess to fill their heads with lofty daydreams about their day-to-day.

While the closed beta for Patch 7 was initially delayed due to some internal coding issues, it looks like the release of the massive patch is back on track for an early Fall 2024 release date.

In a Director’s Take Blog written by Aaron Keller, the game director goes into details on the sudden idea to explore the potential for bringing a 6v6 game mode back to Overwatch. While the team’s primary focus is balancing the game’s 5v5 mode, Keller added that they’re, “…looking at running a series of events to try out different core team composition formats in Overwatch 2.” which includes testing out 6v6.

He also stated that the urge to explore this option comes from community feedback: “The community has, juuuust once or twice, suggested a test… Why not put various forms of 6v6 in the game in order to gauge the results? We agree, and based on your feedback, we’re exploring how we can test different forms of 6v6 in the game to gauge the results.”

While there is no confirmation on a potential 6v6 game mode becoming a core part of the game any time soon, just the idea of returning to Overwatch‘s original format has made a lot of players excited, especially now that the game is more widely available than ever before. With the release of Juno right around the corner, it seems the Overwatch team is finally earning a positive relationship with their audience.

The support hero, officially dubbed Juno, is coming to the game soon, and for a limited time players will be able to try out the new support hero for free.

Everything We Know About Juno the Space Ranger

In addition to being voiced by Xanthe Huynh of Persona fame, in the official release trailer showing off the new support hero, players got a chance to check out Juno’s abilities.

The hero’s kit is filled with fun new abilities that compliment her space ranger-persona, including being able to use her primary fire to heal allies while dealing damage, a secondary fire that that can lock on to fire homing projectiles that heal allies and do damage, and an ultimate that calls down a ray to heal her allies and provide a damage buff.

Juno’s other abilities include Glide Boost, which allows her to glide horizontally, increasing her movement speed; Hyper Ring, that deploys a ring increasing the movement speed of her allies; and Martian Overboots – a super fun looking passive that gives Juno the ability to glide and hover while airborne.

The limited time trial to check out the hero for free will be taking place from July 19 to July 21, 2024.

Details About the Upcoming Stormlight Archives Tabletop RPG

On Brotherwise Games’ official website, they’ve provided a few key highlights for what fans can expect from the upcoming TTRPG, including an original system that will feel familiar for most players, a variety of build paths from Scholar to Surgebinder, and that the team aims to make the Stormlight TTRPG as inclusive as possible, so that even those unfamiliar with Sanderson’s world can dive right in.

The game has also been teased to have a special mechanic using the classic d20 called a “plot die” – a special roll that only occurs for risky and dramatic plays to enhance storytelling and roleplay opportunities at the table. When the game was originally announced in 2022, Brandon Sanderson offered a number of other details, including how the game’s magic system will be skill-based, and that players would potentially have the ability to join one of Cosmere’s knightly factions.

Brotherwise Games has also announced a 2-4 player deck-building card game themed after Sanderson’s Mistborn series, and a standalone card game called Shards of Creation that is ased on “the godlike beings behind Sanderson’s Cosmere”.

The Stormlight TTRPG is going to be a crowdfunding effort hosted on Kickstarter, and will officially launch on August 6, 2024.

True to how he appears in the anime and manga, Feitan has his signature umbrella sword and all his usual edgy flare in tact for Nen x Impact.

While Hunter x Hunter may currently be in an indefinite hiatus due to Togashi’s health, it seems as though the series is slowly making a comeback, as indicated by the mangaka’s recent X posts and the upcoming fighting game.

A new fan project from a group of devoted fans on X are hard at work to bring these two properties together in one of the most inventive projects we’ve ever seen.

New Mod Will Allow Players To Run Into Their Favorite Spirit Blossom Champs In Hades

As described by jjolee (@sorrowtalks), the mod project will have players take control of Spirit Blossom Sett as he pursues Aphelios. The 2D art, courtesy of jjolee themselves, is absolutely stunning and perfectly captures the signature style that Hades is known so well for.

Included in the credits for the mod project is @mooncakephel, who’s handling the 3D modding; @hongdous, who’s managing coding on the project; and @aphelionaphelia, who will be writing dialogue for the project. One of the most exciting, and perhaps unexpected of these announcements was that Bleach would be returning to consoles with a brand-new game.

Bleach’s First Console Title Since ‘Brave Souls’ Shows a Lot of Promise

The last Bleach game that made it to consoles was Brave Souls, which originally dropped on 2016. The game was relatively well-received at the time, and garnered a lot of love from critics and diehard Bleach fans. While there was already a mobile game in the works, Bleach: Soul Resonance, which has had an incredibly successful pre-registration period after launching in China with over 8.6 million sign-ups since early January 2024.

In its gorgeously flashy announcement trailer, Bleach: Rebirth of Souls looks to be an adventure-driven fighting game with graphics that beautifully captures Tite Kubo’s signature artstyle. The game’s official announcement trailer also showed off a number of fan-favorite characters that will be featured throughout, with some obvious picks like Rukia and Yoruichi. Bandai Namco has said the following about Rebirth of Souls on their official webpage:

“Awaken the blade within you and reverse your fate in BLEACH: Rebirth of Souls!

Engage in thrilling battles with powerful sword abilities and characters from this legendary anime franchise.”

Fan reception to the upcoming title has been overwhelmingly positive, with many excited to finally see the franchise receive a new entry after so many years, and based on the trailer and comments made during Anime Expo 2024, it seems the game is something of a passion project for the team. Developed by Tamsoft Corporation (Melty Blood: Type Lumina, Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus), the game is slated to be released on Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC – however, there is no official release date at this time.

We’re about to delve deep into the details of both the original Final Fantasy VII and the Remake trilogy. This discussion will contain major spoilers. Consider yourself warned.

Square Enix Might Have Confirmed That Aerith Dies in FFVII Rebirth

If you watch the trailer closely, there’s a specific scene where the entire party is battling Sephiroth, except for Aerith Gainsborough, the last Ancient. This strongly suggests that Aerith might not be present for the final battle of the game, aligning with the original plot of Final Fantasy VII.

However, even if this is true, I question whether Square Enix would allow events to unfold in the exact same way. Allowing Aerith to live could potentially ruin the game and the trilogy for many long-time fans. On the other hand, not changing how it happens could make the moment less exciting.

That being said, Square Enix has a history of revealing too much information in their trailers, and they might have done so again. We not only see that Aerith is absent in the fight against Sephiroth, but we also see that Cloud stabs Sephiroth with the Buster Sword, only to be gently embraced by him, who seems to have anticipated this outcome. This is when the trailer becomes particularly intriguing for me.

We know that Sephiroth and Jenova had such an influence over Cloud’s mind that Cloud even attacked Aerith in the original game. In the scene where Cloud stabs Sephiroth, it appears quite clear that Sephiroth intended for it to happen. I believe there’s a high chance that Cloud will stab the last Cetra, thinking he is attacking Sephiroth. This would certainly explain Sephiroth’s gentle embrace after being stabbed, as it would actually be Aerith’s gentle embrace. She would understand that Cloud was not in control and wouldn’t want him to bear this guilt.

It’s not surprising that Square Enix has been hinting at Aerith Gainsborough’s death since the first game of the trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Remake. During many different moments of that game, Cloud sees flashes of the moment when Sephiroth mercilessly murders everyone’s favorite Cetra. Although that scene might have traumatized an entire generation, it’s often regarded by fans as the most important scene in Final Fantasy VII. It’s only after that trauma that Cloud can find his true self, and it’s because Aerith is in the Lifestream that Meteor is stopped. So, is history repeating itself?

Guess we’ll have to wait and see to find out. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth releases exclusively on PS5 on Feb. 29, 2024.

Where to Find Daedream in Palworld

Daedream is found at night in most of Palworld’s early-game areas. I consistently found Daedream every night during the beginning of the game, so you shouldn’t have trouble tracking down this mischievous Pal. Just make sure you’re warm enough for Palworld’s chilly nights.

As well as being easy to track down, Daedream is also an easy catch. All you need to watch out for are its magic blasts, which you’ll soon be throwing at your enemies instead.

How to Craft Daedream’s Necklace and Use Multiple Pals

You need to craft Daedream’s Necklace at a Pal Gear Workbench to unlock Daedream’s Dream Chaser Partner Skill and have it follow you. The good news is that you only need to craft one of these, regardless of how many Daedreams you plan to demolish your enemies with.

Daedream’s Necklace is unlockable at Level 8 in the technology tab. If you haven’t already, you also need the Pal Gear Work Bench from the Level 6 row. The item requires 10 Paldium Fragments, 10 Fiber, and 5 Leather to craft.

• Paldium Fragments can be mined from stone or Paldium deposits
• Fiber is gathered by hitting trees
• Leather is dropped by defeating certain Pals

Keep an eye out for Pals like Foxparks, Nitewing, and Direhowl while hunting for Daedream to gather the Leather you need. I gathered my Leather by battling Pals in areas near the Grassy Behemoth Hills tower.

How to Use Multiple Daedream Simultaneously

Once Daedream’s Necklace has been crafted at the Pal Gear Work Bench, all Daedream in your party will automatically fight beside you and follow you around. When you attack using your weapon, Daedream will passively launch its Dark Ball attack at enemies.

It’s important to note that Daedream will only attack unless actively sent out. It can’t work, switch between moves, or tank attacks. However, it does destroy enemies with a pretty loud beam of energy. As long as you don’t aim for too mighty of a foe — like my Level 7 Daedreams facing off against Mammorest — your personal army of Daedreams will melt just about anything in your way.

To engage in this morally questionable activity, just hit a human until they have low HP, then throw a Pal Sphere at them, just like you’d do to capture pals. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, and sometimes you need better Pal Spheres. However, once a human is captured, they will appear in your party or Palbox.

Capturing humans is a fun detail that many players might miss because they might have never thought of even trying this. Granted, you don’t tend to see this in monster-collecting games. It seems that, unlike Pokéballs, Palspheres don’t make the distinction between what is a Pal and what is a human. If it’s alive, breathing, and its HP is sufficiently low, you can confine it in a Pal Sphere without mercy.

Once a human is captured in Palworld, the game warns you that this practice is considered inhumane, but it doesn’t prevent you from doing so. Frankly, I couldn’t care less about the humans I captured. They shot me and my Pals first. Also, I love how friendly they become once captured. You can release and retreat them as if they were any other Pal in your party.

One thing is for certain, humans are definitely worse than pals. They move slowly, have a single attack, aren’t very active in your base, and can’t be utilized for breeding. They don’t even have partner skills. Funny enough, you can condense them to increase their stats, effectively sacrificing other humans to make one stronger.

Capturing humans is more of a joke than a feature intended to be seriously used in the game. I’m pretty sure Pocket Pair is just poking fun at the genre, and adding an element that helps establish Palworld as a satire of known games. I’m not sure why anyone would capture humans in Palworld other than to test if it’s possible. That said, I already have eight in my Palbox, and they all have names now.

During the duel that follows, Laios realizes that the suit of armor is going out of its way to protect an egg sack attached to the back of its shield.

After he manages to chop off the armor’s head, Laios discovers that a colony of mollusks is animating the suit. Using the egg sack as a distraction to save his comrades, Laios and Senshi cook the mollusks into a stir-fry soup the group guzzles down before they move on to the next level of the dungeon.

I combed YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit in my hunt for the Buckshot World Record, and I’m pretty sure I’ve found them. A Twitter user going by the handle @DaithiDeNogla amassed an impressive $14527232 fortune throughout a two-hour game session.

To back up their claim to this score, Nogla uploaded a video of their world record-setting session to their YouTube Channel. This almost two-hour video shows how Nogla survived his one-on-one dance on the edge of life and death with the dealer by carefully using the items that come his way and occasionally letting fate clip a coin.

So, congrats to Nogla for holding the Buckshot Roulette World Record! The game’s becoming more popular as the days go by, so I hope he’s looking into refining his already impressive technique to stay on top of the ever-growing number of gamblers kicking down the dealer’s door.

Brazilian Player Namikaze Prevented From Competing at Capcom Cup Due to Visa Denial

The situation has infuriated the Brazilian FGC. On December 18th, 2023, Namikaze had his visa denied during an interview at the consulate that lasted about 3 minutes. The Brazilian player said the person conducting the interview seemed to have little to no interest in hearing what he had to say. In my brief conversation with Namikaze, this is how he described the situation:

“During my interview, which was quite short, around 3 minutes, the person who conducted it did not want to look at my documents, nor did they ask for any additional information for me to prove the purpose of my trip. I mentioned that it was for international competition, in a tournament for which I earned a spot here in Brazil with all expenses covered.”

This has caused the Brazilian FGC to react angrily to the injustice committed to a player who has earned his spot in the competition. The news spread like wildfire, and many popular content creators and players have tried to raise awareness and help Namikaze have a shot at the $2M prize. One of the most notorious attempts to bring this situation before everyone’s eyes came from Vini Oliveira, also known as Punho do Dragão:

“Street Fighter isn’t as mainstream as Counter-Strike or League of Legends, but on Feb/24, the Capcom Cup X will take place, marking the biggest tournament in the franchise’s history, with a prize pool of 2 million USD. Two Brazilians secured spots for this global event. However, one of them has just had their visa denied.”

Vini continues the thread, mentioning that this is not the first time Brazilian E-Sports players have faced this situation, and it’s not exclusive to Fighting Games players. Many players have their dreams and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity crushed with no explanation, even if they have earned their spot in one of the biggest competitions in the world and have the documentation to prove it.

Currently, Namikaze’s situation is well known in Brazil. Vini’s efforts to make people aware of it worked. The player’s story has been shared by many Brazilian popular websites, players, and influencers. Names like Colossimus, a League of Legends caster, and Thomas Schulze, a writer at one of the biggest videogames Portal in the country, are also helping spread awareness and maybe find a way to help Brazil’s Capcom Cup representative.

A Tale as Old as the FGC

The situation that Namikaze is facing is unfortunate, but not surprising. There are many cases of players of many games from all over the world who had their visas denied. In 2020, Konqueror, an MK11 player, had his visa denied four times. However, he managed to turn the situation around after the FGC helped spread awareness of the situation. The case gained so much attention that Danilo Gentilli, a famous comedian and late-night show host in Brazil, tagged the American embassy on social media, asking them to reconsider.

“Hello @EmbaixadaEUA, how are you? First of all, with due respect to the sovereignty of the country, I came across a case, put myself in the boy’s shoes, and would like to report it to you. I’m reaching out here because it was the fastest way I found to contact you. Please, if you can, pay attention to this.”

It seems the goal of the Brazilian FGC is to make lightning strike in the same place a second time. Namikaze has received a lot of support and counseling from the FGC and other influential people involved with E-Sports. His situation is complicated. The Capcom Cup is in February 2024, and he might not have enough time to request another Visa. Even if he does, there’s no guarantee that his visa won’t be denied once again. We can only hope that with enough noise and support, a dream won’t be crushed due to apathy and bureaucracy.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Survival Crew was an officially licensed Roblox experience developed by ‘Metaverse Team Frights.’ Just two hours after its beta officially launched on the platform, the experience was taken down, with series creator Scott Cawthon taking to Reddit to explain that the game was not meant for release.

“The fact that [Five Nights at Freddy’s: Survival Crew] released today is one of the most baffling, insane, things to ever happen in my ten years of working on FNAF,” Cawthon writes in a comment on the official Five Nights at Freddy’s Subreddit. “This game is in it’s [sic] infancy; temp assets; temp gameplay, unfinished everything.“

As for an explanation of why the experience was ever available, Cawthon writes, “Apparently, there was a huge misunderstanding when I approved a game, and it was interpreted as RELEASE THE GAME.” Later in the comment, Cawthon reiterates, “[Five Nights at Freddy’s Survival Crew] was a game in its testing phases and was in no way ready to be released to the public.“

Prior to Scott’s explanation, a developer for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Survival Crew posted the following message into the official Discord: “Thank you all for your feedback & for playing the game – we really value the feedback from the community! We’ll be taking it down for a few weeks to plan for our next beta test and come back better for round two. All purchased items will be available at that time again. More to come soon!“

I joined the Discord server to learn more information on the developers’ plans going forward, only to be met with a stream of users posting images of a naked man, along with links to explicit animations, and the level of conversation expected from an unmoderated FNAF chat. Delightful.

I also had the pleasure of playing Five Nights at Freddy’s: Survival Crew before its delisting. My longest game consisted heavily of a T-posing Freddy Fazbear spinning in circles while we set him on fire. As Cawthon mentioned, the game is undoubtedly in the early stages of development, with poor sound effects, questionable visuals, and messy gameplay.

When the experience worked, Survival Crew’s concept was similar to Dead by Daylight’s, with one player controlling an animatronic tasked with hunting down the other players and placing them in Springlock Suits.

Players who fail the Springlock minigame will switch sides and become animatronics themselves. To win, the ‘night crew’ must activate five panels. The night crew can also use consumables to better their odds against Freddy and his gang of identically modeled Spring Bonnies.

Like most Roblox experiences, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Survival Crew featured microtransactions purchasable with Robux, Roblox’s premium currency. Animatronic players only had access to Freddy, with Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and various cosmetic skins locked behind a paywall.

Given the circumstances, Survival Crew may officially launch with a different monetization system. However, players unfortunate enough to have splashed some cash on Survival Crew during its short lifespan are now missing their in-game goodies until the game goes live once again. If it does at all.

Desperate to escape death, Mahtio begs Pseudo-Geto to save him from Yuji. Unfortunately for Mahito, Psuedo-Geto’s description of “helping” involves using his innate Cursed Spirit Manipulation technique to absorb Mahito. Unable to fight back, Mahito is consumed, giving Peeduo-Geto access to all of Mahito’s terrifying abilities.

Given a chance to show off his new skills when the Kyoto Second-Years arrive, Pseudo-Geto effortlessly avoids every attack thrown his way, even after Atsuya Kusakabe and Utahime Iori join the fray. When it looks like things can’t get any spicer, Choso arrives and protects Yuji from a dangerous blow, loudly declaring that the boy is his little brother.

Having experienced a false memory of Yuji dining with himself and his brothers, Choso deduces that the being known as Peeduo-Geto is and always has been Kenjaku, the wicked sorcerer who created him and his siblings. Kenjaku doesn’t bother denying the allegation, but Uraume freezes Choso in his tracks before he can retaliate.

Enraged by the continuous interruption of Sukuna’s ressurection, Uraume attempts to finish off all their opponents with a massive blast of ice. At that moment, Yuki Tsukumo arrives and challenges Kenjaku, closing the episode with a nail-biting cliffhanger.

Perhaps they’ve finally recognized the potential they’ve always held and decided to have faith in their abilities. Or they might have noticed the success of Square-Enix and Capcom with remakes and chose to join the trend.

All We Know About the Upcoming SEGA Remakes

To be clear, it’s uncertain whether all these games are actual remakes. They could be full reboots, soft reboots, or complete remakes of the original games. Our only hint comes from the lyrics of the selected music played during the trailer. The lyrics say, “Let me reintroduce you,” before revealing the following games:

Jet Set Radio

Jet Set Radio is considered by many the first cel-shaded game. Although this is debatable when it comes to the launch date, we first saw this technique in 1999, when SEGA first introduced us to their upcoming rollerskating game that looks good up to this date. It doesn’t seem like SEGA is trying to reinvent the wheel here, which is good. Just give us the same art style, and the same overall gameplay, and make it better.

Streets of Rage

We get to see Axel Stone in a new look. He has a beard and a brown jacket. So, this isn’t exactly the Axel Stone we remember from the first three Streets of Rage games, nor is he the one we saw in Streets of Rage 4. Is this a remake? Is this a sequel? I don’t know, but I wanna play it.

Shinobi

We are getting a new Shinobi game and I couldn’t be more excited about it. As much as I loved Shinobi on the PS2, and I still hope they revisit that game in some way at some point, this old platformer has such an emotional weight that I believe this was the right choice. The game looks gorgeous, and elegant, and seems to have all that you’d expect from a modern platformer game about a badass ninja.

Golden Axe

It appears that a new 3D Action Adventure Multiplayer Hack’n Slash Golden Axe game is coming, and I’m all for it. We get a quick look at Gillius Thunderhead and what seem to be Ax Battler and Tyris Flare. This is one of the best SEGA franchises, and I hope they get it right.

Crazy Taxi

If there’s one thing SEGA has always excelled at, it’s creating fun racing games. Crazy Taxi is coming back and I’m pretty confident that this is going to be a fun game. This seems to be a common theme in all these announcements. They seem to be aiming at fun and nostalgia, and I can’t say that is a bad strategy.

There’s More

SEGA has hinted that there’s more on the horizon. Unfortunately, they’ve kept us in suspense about what these might be. So, while we eagerly anticipate the return of these classic games, we can also look forward to the thrill of the unknown. Whatever it is, I’m excited.

Pony Island 2: Panda Circus Release Date, Consoles

As revealed in the final seconds of its excellent and uncanny trailer, Pony Island 2: Panda Circus is set to be released in 2025… or is it 2026? The last digit of the release date glitchily flickers back and forth between five and six, so Pony Island 2: Panda Circus’s release date is probably not set in stone. Since developer Daniel Mullins is a known master of deception, it will be a while until we get a clear answer on when Pony Island 2: Panda Circus is coming out.

What Consoles is Pony Island 2: Panda Circus Coming To

It’s unclear which consoles Pony Island 2: Panda Circus will be available on. The original Pony Island was a PC exclusive, so it’s safe to assume that Pony Island 2: Panda Circus will also be one. While the gameplay styles shown in the trailer were quite diverse, they all seemed to utilize point-and-click controls, giving us some solid evidence about which consoles Pony Island 2: Panda Circus will be available for.

Daniel Mullins’ games are infamous for their metatextual nature, and the original Pony Island is no exception to that rule. Placing the player in the shoes of an unfortunate soul who finds themself playing an arcade cabinet possessed by the Devil himself, Pony Island toyed with the player psychologically by deconstructing traditional gameplay elements like save states and in-game text, keeping them on their toes from start to finish.

From what little was shown during the trailer, the plot of Piny Island 2: Panda Circus will introduce us to yet another demonic arcade machine. This particular cabinet seems to be centered around a panda-themed life simulator game. If the massive number of glitches that crop up during “gameplay” is any indication, the player will, once again, have to work around a program that wants them to fail if they hope to escape with their soul.

The first Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer opens with Lucia in prison. A woman asks her how she ended up there, and Lucia responds with “Bad luck, I guess.” Well, Lucia’s bad luck might end up restricting your ability to explore Vice City and the state of Leonida when GTA 6 finally hits store shelves in 2025.

The game’s key art features the starring couple, Jason and Lucia, sitting on the hood of a car parked on the sun-soaked streets of Vice City. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that Lucia is wearing an ankle monitor in the artwork, suggesting that she’ll be on parole during the game’s main story and under close watch by the authorities.

Just as they do in real life, Lucia’s ankle monitor could be used as a gameplay element to restrict your movement in the opening hours of GTA 6’s main story. While Grand Theft Auto V didn’t feature any restrictions at all, allowing the trio of main characters to explore Los Santos and Blaine County at their leisure from the beginning, classic GTA games were notorious for keeping players locked in a small section of the map at the start of the game.

In GTA Vice City, the bridges between islands were closed due to inclement weather. In GTA IV, the bridges were closed due to a terrorist threat. Even Rockstar’s western epic featured a variation of this mechanic, preventing Arthur Morgan from venturing too far west. With GTA 6’s map slated to be Rockstar’s biggest yet, it makes sense to restrict players to certain parts of Vice City for narrative reasons.

The ankle monitor mechanic could also play into the game’s dual protagonist system. Despite the first trailer’s focus on Lucia, both she and Jason are playable in the full game. There may be parts of the map that Lucia is unable to visit early in the story because of her ankle bracelet, forcing the player to swap to Jason. Maybe Lucia is restricted to Vice City while Jason is allowed to explore the swamps surrounding the city.

Regardless, there’s more Grand Theft Auto 6 news on the way in the future. There’s still a long road ahead to the game’s 2025 release date, and given Rockstar’s history of drip-feed marketing, it’ll likely be a long time before we see anything new from Jason and Lucia.

While the PS2-era GTA games had star-studded casts with the likes of Ray Liotta and Samuel L. Jackson, Rockstar Games tends to avoid casting big-name actors for their modern projects, choosing unknowns instead for their major roles. Roger Clark didn’t have an extensive filmography before being cast as Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, just as Michael Hollick had no major roles before playing Niko Bellic in Grand Theft Auto IV.

GTA fans thought they had discovered Lucia’s actress before the game’s first trailer was released, but it turns out that might not be the case. Alexandra C. Echavarri was rumored to be the actress who played Lucia because of her likeness and heritage, but she recently addressed the rumors herself.

Does Alexandra Echavarri Play Lucia in GTA 6?

While Echavarri has worked with Rockstar Games, she’s not playing Lucia in Grand Theft Auto VI. A recent post on her Instagram account finally revealed the secret role she had in one of Rockstar’s projects.

Alexandra C. Echavarri voices the Warehouse Boss, Lupe, in Grand Theft Auto Online. The comments on the post asked her about any potential involvement in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game, but she quickly denied those rumors, saying, “I am NOT in GTA VI.”

With the Echavarri rumor shut down, fans now have no idea who’s playing Lucia in GTA 6. Rockstar is incredibly tight-lipped about things like this, especially so long before the game is actually out, so it’ll likely be a long time before we receive official confirmation. Plus, since the developer rarely uses popular voice actors for its main cast, it’ll be difficult for fans to match Jason and Lucia’s voices to their favorite performers before launch.

Grand Theft Auto VI is slated to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2025, and more trailers will be released throughout 2024 as we get closer to the launch window. PC fans will unfortunately have to wait before they can get their hands on the game, however, as Rockstar is doing yet another staggered launch and catering to console players first.

The trailer cuts through a rapid-fire series of viral moments featuring the behavior of the average Florida resident, but if you look past the craziness, you can see quite a few parts of Vice City and the state of Leonida on display. The iconic Vice City boardwalk is washed in waves of neon, Vice Beach is incredibly packed, and alligators are getting into places where they’re not supposed to be.

Of course, even though it’s the first official look at the game, it’s not the first time we’ve learned information about GTA 6. There have already been several leaks, including extended looks at gameplay, but the Grand Theft Auto VI map has also been mostly leaked ahead of the game’s official reveal. The GTA leaks community has put together a general idea of what the game’s map will look like and placed multiple landmarks already.

A fanmade mockup by avatar-sd on DeviantArt has been widely accepted as one of the best representations of the leaked map. While it takes some creative liberties with store locations and area names, the general layout of the map is accurate based on all of the leaked information that’s out there.

Now that the first official GTA 6 trailer is out, however, fans have been comparing the footage to the leaked map to see if anything lines up. Eagle-eyed fans have already found multiple parts of the trailer that line up with the leaked map information, meaning that the map leaks are most likely real. The nighttime shot of a Vice City highway lines up with an area in the middle of the leaked map, for example, as does the shot of a bridge crossing the crystal clear waters of Leonida.

If this seems farfetched, just remember that the map of Red Dead Redemption 2 was leaked before that game was even announced and it ended up being nearly 100% accurate. The fanmade mockups of the GTA VI map might be a little bit off and take a few creative liberties, but the overall structure of the map and city layout is basically set in stone.

Of course, we won’t get our first look at the GTA 6 map until the game finally launches in 2025. That’s still a long way off, though, but we’ll get a few more looks at Grand Theft Auto VI’s world and characters throughout 2024 as Rockstar Games drops more trailers leading up to the launch window. The game’s first trailer solely focused on Lucia, so it only makes sense that a Jason-centric trailer is coming up sometime soon.

Amidst the chaos, a rumor has popped up that Lucia is a transgender woman, but that’s just not the case.

As is the case with a lot of internet drama, DramaAlert’s Keemstar is a key reason why people are thinking that Lucia might be a trans woman in GTA 6. A post on the website formerly known as Twitter mentions that Lucia is rumored to be transgender, but there’s no concrete source backing this up.

DramaAlert’s source is a Reddit thread posted over a year ago where a random user also mentions that the first female Grand Theft Auto protagonist is a trans woman, but again, there’s no source. So the source of DramaAlert’s unsubstantiated rumor is a second unsubstantiated rumor. Given that the post also jokes that Lucia is “Franklin’s sugar mama,” it’s clear that there’s no solid foundation here.

While it wouldn’t be out of character for Rockstar Games to include a transgender character in Grand Theft Auto 6 (and given the franchise’s focus on social commentary, it will), Lucia is a cisgender woman. If Lucia was anything other than cisgender, that information would’ve leaked alongside the gameplay and plot details that we knew about before the official trailer dropped.

Sadly, this sort of backlash is to be expected when a woman is presented at the front and center of a game’s marketing. It’s a repeat of the situation that happened with Abby in The Last of Us Part 2. Some people are quick to declare a game to be “woke” just because they see a woman.

On the bright side, this seems to be a vocal minority. The response to the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer has been overwhelmingly positive, with the trailer approaching 100 million views on YouTube and amassing over 8 million likes at the time of writing. The first look at Lucia, Jason, and the sun-soaked beaches of Vice City has fans desperate for more information. More GTA 6 trailers are surely on the way, and it’s still a long road to the game’s 2025 release date.

Fortnite’s movement and animation system has been completely reworked with the release of Chapter 5 Season 1, and many diehard fans are upset. Epic Games has added features called motion matching and procedural layering to Fortnite’s animations, resulting in more fluid transitions between walking, running, shooting, and everything that a Fortnite player does during a match. On current-gen consoles and PCs, physics-based animation has also been implemented for gliders. Ultimately, the new animations look much more realistic.

With their sights set on Peter Griffin and Solid Snake, Fortnite fans couldn’t wait to check out Chapter 5’s new map and features. After dropping off the battle bus, however, it was immediately clear that something was off. Players took to Reddit and social media to share their thoughts on the new movement changes, constructing elaborate side-by-side tests to show just how different everything was.

Everything is much slower now. While the sprint feature remained mostly unchanged, walking, crouching, and strafing are all significantly slower as of Chapter 5 Season 1. The feeling of slowness is exacerbated by the new, more realistic animations, too, so all the build-crazy 14-year-olds hopped up on energy drinks are feeling the nerf. The change has even led to Epic developers getting harassed by players on social media, which is sadly not a first for the online gaming community.

The uproar led to an official response from Epic Games stating that the changes are here to stay and they may take some time to get used to. The developer confirmed that running and sprinting are now slightly slower but stamina recovers more quickly, and sideways and backward movement is actually faster now. On top of that, crouching is slower but stealthier.

According to Epic, the changes were intended to encourage more strategic decision-making in each moment in addition to improving Fortnite’s visual fidelity. The changes to crouching are the best example of this, letting players sneak up on enemies more easily at the cost of slower movement speed. Despite its intentions, Epic reassured players that it is still listening to feedback but hopes that the community will take some time to adjust to the new changes.

If you’re one of the players who’s feeling the harshness of the movement changes, then Epic recommends checking your settings, particularly if you play with a keyboard and mouse. Some of your keybinds and control settings may not match well with the new changes, especially since Fortnite players now have to fight years of muscle memory to try and learn the new movement style.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 thrusts players into a conflict between the Underground and the Society, with multiple members of the latter roaming the island as boss enemies.
